18 " TERRESTRIAL ANTIQUE TABLE GLOBE JOHNSON for WEBER COSTELLOThis 18 inches globe was sold by the American maker WEBER COSTELLO of Chicago ( a school supplies company) .The globe was made in England by the Johston company which had an distribution agreement with the US .I place the production late 1890 or early 1900 because of St Petersburg , Russia on the globe, no Yugoslavia created , "Russia" and "Austro-Hungarian Empire" disappeared in 1918 . Analemma .While the condition is not pristine it has been restored to top condition with this grade : fair condition with some touch up of the paper of the paper , some in Africa , Indian Ocean , Pacific Ocean , most of the country are easy to read . The the globe turn freely too. The overall colors are fading in some part with oxidation .Note that the 1920's were a time of sweeping change making globes of this era particularly interesting .Very little between 1880 and 1920 in the distribution of the borders , after I WW most of the empires and kingdoms disappeared creating a new world which is still trying to come to term with those changes .Caution :Overall while it is not in pristine condition I believe it is a good value in term of historical content and decorative cachet , if you need your piece to be perfect better pass.Size : 18" globe , H 28. There is some spot due to age but it is easy to read and observe all the country, touch up in the sea and a small part of the Analemma , it has been cleaned .
